Jewellery Materials & Product Information

Jewellery Materials & Product Information

At Valoria London, we want you to feel confident when choosing your jewellery. This guide explains how to understand the materials, finishes, stones and product details shown across our collections.

Materials may vary between products. Always review the individual product page for the most accurate information about a specific piece.

Product-Specific Information

Each product page should provide the relevant details available for that jewellery piece, which may include:

  • Base metal
  • Plating or surface finish
  • Stone or decorative material
  • Chain length
  • Pendant dimensions
  • Earring dimensions
  • Closure or fastening type
  • Weight, where available
  • Jewellery care instructions

Please contact our Customer Care team before purchasing if you require information that is not shown on the product page.

Gold-Tone and Gold-Plated Jewellery

Some Valoria London jewellery may feature a gold-tone or gold-plated finish.

Gold-plated jewellery is created by applying a layer of gold over another metal. The thickness, colour and composition of the plating may vary by product and supplier.

Plated finishes may gradually change through regular wear, friction, moisture, chemicals, cosmetics and individual skin chemistry. This is a natural characteristic of plated jewellery and does not necessarily indicate a manufacturing defect.

Silver-Tone Jewellery

Silver-tone jewellery refers to the visible colour or finish of a piece and does not automatically mean that the product is made from sterling silver.

Where a product is made from sterling silver or another specific precious metal, this should be clearly stated on its individual product page.

Stainless Steel

Selected jewellery may be made using stainless steel or include stainless-steel components.

Stainless steel is commonly used in jewellery because of its strength and suitability for detailed contemporary designs. Product-specific finishes, coatings and care requirements may still vary.

A stainless-steel base does not automatically mean that a product is waterproof, tarnish-free or suitable for every skin type unless those claims are expressly stated and supported on the product page.

Brass and Other Base Metals

Some jewellery designs may use brass, zinc alloy or another base metal beneath a plated or decorative finish.

Base metals allow jewellery to be shaped into detailed and distinctive designs. Their appearance and wear may be affected by moisture, chemicals, friction and storage conditions.

Natural Stones

Where natural stones are used, each stone may vary slightly in colour, pattern, texture, clarity, shape or internal markings.

These natural differences help make each piece individual and are not normally considered faults.

Product photography is intended to represent the overall appearance of the jewellery, but the exact stone supplied may not be identical to the one shown.

Imitation, Synthetic and Decorative Stones

Some products may feature synthetic stones, glass, resin, enamel, imitation pearls, crystal-style details or other decorative materials.

The relevant product page should describe the stone or decorative material as accurately as possible based on the information available to us.

We will not describe a synthetic, simulated or imitation material as a natural gemstone where that would be inaccurate.

Pearls and Pearl-Style Details

Products may contain natural, cultured, freshwater, glass or imitation pearl-style elements.

The specific type should be stated on the product page where known. Natural and cultured pearls may display subtle variations in shape, colour, texture and surface markings.

Pearls and pearl-style finishes should be kept away from perfume, hairspray, cosmetics, moisture and abrasive cleaning products.

Enamel and Coloured Finishes

Enamel and coloured decorative finishes may be used to create contrast, pattern and detail.

These surfaces should be handled carefully, as impact, scratching, chemicals and excessive friction may damage the finish.

Measurements and Scale

Product images may be enlarged to show fine details and should not be used as the only indication of size.

Please review the measurements stated on the product page before purchasing. Small variations may occur because of manufacturing tolerances and measuring methods.

Model and mannequin photographs are provided to help demonstrate approximate scale and styling. Actual appearance may vary depending on individual body proportions and how the jewellery is positioned.

Necklace Lengths

The way a necklace sits will depend on its chain length, extender, pendant dimensions and the wearer’s neck and body proportions.

Where available, necklace measurements should include:

  • Main chain length
  • Extender-chain length
  • Pendant height and width
  • Fastening or closure type

Adjustable necklaces may sit differently depending on the extension point selected.

Earring Size and Weight

Earring comfort is personal and may depend on the size, weight, closure style and individual sensitivity of the wearer.

Please review the dimensions and weight shown on the product page where available, particularly when purchasing statement or drop earrings.

Clasps, Fastenings and Closures

Valoria London jewellery may use different fastening systems, including:

  • Lobster clasps
  • Toggle clasps
  • Hook fastenings
  • Hinged earring closures
  • Butterfly backs
  • Lever-back closures
  • Adjustable chains

Closures should be handled gently and checked before wearing. Do not force, bend or pull delicate components.

Nickel and Metal Sensitivities

Skin sensitivity and metal allergies differ between individuals.

Unless a product is specifically described as nickel-free, hypoallergenic or suitable for sensitive skin—and we hold evidence supporting that claim—customers should not assume that it meets those descriptions.

Customers with a known allergy or sensitivity should review the available material information and seek appropriate professional advice before wearing the product.

Water Resistance

Unless expressly described as waterproof or water-resistant on the individual product page, Valoria London jewellery should be kept away from water.

We recommend removing jewellery before:

  • Showering or bathing
  • Swimming
  • Exercising
  • Entering a sauna or steam room
  • Using cleaning products

Tarnishing and Changes in Finish

Jewellery finishes may naturally change over time. The rate of change may be influenced by:

  • Frequency of wear
  • Moisture and humidity
  • Perfume, lotions and cosmetics
  • Cleaning products and chemicals
  • Individual skin chemistry
  • Storage conditions
  • Friction against clothing or other jewellery

Proper care can help preserve the appearance of a piece but cannot always prevent all natural wear.

Product Photography

We aim to represent jewellery accurately through photographs and video. However, product colour and appearance may vary slightly because of:

  • Studio lighting
  • Camera settings
  • Image processing
  • Screen brightness
  • Device colour settings
  • Natural or production variations

These variations do not affect your statutory rights where a product is materially different from its description.

Jewellery Care

To help preserve your jewellery:

  • Apply cosmetics and perfume before putting jewellery on
  • Remove jewellery before water exposure or exercise
  • Wipe each piece gently after wearing
  • Store jewellery in a clean, dry place
  • Keep individual pieces separated
  • Avoid abrasive cleaners and polishing products

Read our Jewellery Care Guide for complete care instructions.

Manufacturing Variations

Small variations may occur between production batches. These may include minor differences in tone, dimensions, surface finish, stone placement or component shape.

Such variations are generally acceptable where they do not materially alter the product’s design, quality or intended use.

Faulty or Misdescribed Products

If you believe a product is faulty, damaged or materially different from its description, please contact our Customer Care team as soon as possible.

Please provide:

  • Your order number
  • The product name
  • A description of the issue
  • Clear photographs or video

Nothing on this page limits your statutory consumer rights.
